2013 Toyota RAV4 LE AWD The 2013 RAV4 LE AWD is actually a pretty practical little SUV. It was the first year of the fourth-generation RAV4, and Toyota loaded the LE with more useful equipment than you might expect from a base trim. TToyota USA Newsroom+1 Cool/useful features 2.5L 4-cylinder — 176 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. 6-speed automatic transmission with selectable Sport and Eco modes. TToyota USA Newsroom Dynamic Torque Control AWD — the AWD system can automatically send power to the rear wheels when needed. AWD Lock mode — at low speeds, it can send up to 50% of available power to the rear wheels, useful in snow, mud or loose surfaces. It automatically returns to Auto mode above roughly 25 mph. TToyota USA Newsroom 17-inch wheels — even the LE gets 17s. 6.1-inch touchscreen Display Audio. Backup camera — standard on the LE. Bluetooth phone + audio streaming. USB and AUX inputs. 6-speaker audio system. Cruise control. Steering-wheel audio controls. Power windows, locks and mirrors. Heated exterior mirrors. Rear privacy glass. Automatic headlights. 60/40 split-folding and reclining rear seats. Roof-hinged power liftgate — a major change from the previous RAV4's side-opening rear door. TToyota USA Newsroom One of its best features: cargo space This thing is surprisingly roomy. You get about 38.4 cu ft behind the rear seats and 73.3 cu ft with them folded. The rear seats fold down to create a nearly flat loading area, and the spare tire moved underneath the cargo floor on the 2013 redesign. EEdmunds+1 That's excellent if you're hauling furniture, camping equipment, bikes, pets, etc. ? Safety The 2013 RAV4 came with a strong standard safety package: 8 airbags Driver knee airbag Stability control Traction control 4-wheel ABS/discs Tire-pressure monitoring Side-curtain airbags Whiplash-reducing front head restraints Backup camera Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert were not standard on the LE; those were available higher in the lineup. EEdmunds+1 MPG & capability For the AWD version, EPA fuel economy is approximately 22 city / 29 highway / 25 combined MPG. It can tow up to 1,500 lb. EEdmunds+1 The coolest thing about this particular RAV4 I'd say it's the AWD system. It's more sophisticated than simply "AWD when a wheel slips." Toyota's system monitors things like steering angle, throttle input, vehicle speed and yaw rate, and can proactively send torque rearward. Sport mode also changes the AWD behavior and steering/throttle/transmission response. TToyota USA Newsroom+1
